Nitrous Oxide is an excellent anti-axiety agent as it is effective, quick-acting, and safe.  Becuase the sedative effects wear off once the gas is removed, you are able to return to your daily tasks following the appointment without feeling any continuing sedative effets. 

 

Oral Sedation
Oral sedation consists of taking a sedative oral tablet 1 hour prior to your dental appointment.  Oral sedation is a great choice for those patients who are interested in benefiting from an increased sedative effect.  Due to the sedative effects of the medication, patients are required to have a ride to and from the dental appointment.  

Intravenous (I.V.) Sedation 

Intravenous sedation consists of a mixture of sedative medications that are administered intraveneously.  Intraveneous sedation is a great option for patients that require a level of sedation that is more profound than nitrous oxide or oral sedation.
