A Family Tradition of Dental Excellence
I’m proud to be part of three generations of dentists serving the Seattle community. My grandfather, Dr. Robert Johnson, Sr., was one of the founding faculty members at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and served as Chair of Oral Surgery. My father, Dr. Robert Johnson, has continued that legacy here at Aesthetic Dental Associates for decades, and now I have the privilege of practicing alongside him and Dr. Tracy Tran. Together, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, expert care for our patients in Seattle.
Education and Training
I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where I was recognized for academic and research excellence. I then completed my Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Washington School of Medicine, followed by residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center. My surgical expertise includes dental extractions, wisdom teeth, dental implant surgery, pathology, trauma, reconstructive surgery, and anesthesia. I hold hospital privileges at Overlake Medical Center.
Commitment to Patients and Community
While advanced training and research are central to my background, my greatest focus is on people. I am passionate about listening to patients’ concerns, easing anxiety, and providing care with empathy and respect. I believe oral surgery is not just about procedures—it’s about improving lives. Seattle has always been home, and serving this community with honesty and compassion is deeply important to me. I also serve in the Washington State Dental Association House of Delegates advocating for patient-centered care.
Research and Professional Contributions
In addition to patient care, I’ve been actively involved in clinical research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as surgical safety, anesthesia safety, bone regeneration, disease burden of odontogenic disease, opioid abuse management, and innovative approaches to oral health. I also volunteer my time providing dental care in underserved communities, including with the Navajo Nation, and I remain committed to advancing safe, effective, and evidence-based practices in oral surgery.

I’m passionate about providing innovative dental care outside of the clinic as well. My wife, Dr. Stevie Roberts, and I co-founded Duo Toothpaste, a plastic-free and evidence-based tablet toothpaste to help our customers looking for a clinically effective and environmentally responsible solution in oral care. Our work has been featured in publications such as Dentaltown, the Dentaltown Editorial Board, Orthotown, Dental Entrepreneur, and My Dental Advocate. We have also shared our journey on podcasts such as Heart to Hustle, Dr. Gallagher, and The Wahan Experiment.
